◎ Diodes Incorporateds PCI Express 3.0 Packet Switches Offer Design Flexibility and Advanced Power Management

PLANO, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Diodes Incorporated (Nasdaq: DIOD) announces the PI7C9X3G816GP, a PCIe® 3.0 packet switch that supports flexible 2-port, 3-port, 4-port, 5-port and 8-port configurations.Designed to meet advanced performance needs, the switch is ideal for networking and telecom infrastructure, security systems, failover systems, artificial intelligence and deep learning, NAS, HBA cards, and data center applications. The wide operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C also benefits a growing number of industrial applications such as embedded, industrial PC (IPC) and industrial control.
The proprietary architecture employed in the PI7C9X3G816GP packet switch increases flexibility and performance. It can be configured with multiple port/lane width combinations, such as upstream, downstream, and cross-domain endpoint (CDEP), to support fan-out and dual-host connectivity.
Exclusive to the industry is the integrated PCIe 3.0 clock buffer, which reduces overall component count, simplifies product design, and helps reduce bill of materials (BOM) costs. The PI7C9X3G816GP supports three reference clock structures: Generic, Independent Reference No Extension (SRNS) and Independent Reference Independent Extension (SRIS).Multiple Direct Memory Access (DMA) channels are embedded in the switch to facilitate efficient communication between the host (or hosts) and the connected endpoints.
Additional features, such as error handling, advanced error reporting, end-to-end data protection with error correction, hot-plug and accidental deletion, provide enhanced reliability, availability and serviceability (RAS).Additionally, a built-in thermal sensor instantly reports operating temperature.Advanced power management means that the PI7C9X3G816GP meets the most stringent energy-saving requirements for building greener data centers. For example, a packet switch supports seven power states to efficiently meet power requirements, and any inactive hot-plug ports remain in a low-power state.Advanced diagnostic software tools, including PHY Eye™, MAC Viewer™ (embedded LA), and PCIBUDDY™, assist designers throughout the system development process.
The PI7C9X3G816GP from Diodes Incorporated is housed in a high-performance flip-chip (HFC) package in a 324-ball BGA format and 19mm x 19mm form factor. The packet switch is priced at $31.00 in 1,000-unit quantities.
