◎ 2023 Chevy Bolt EUV Review: Steve Noviello Tests All-Electric SUV

electric switch button for statr SUV car,Yes, you feel pain in your pump. But is jumping into an electric car painful enough? Consumer journalist Steve Noviello spent a week in test mode driving the new Chevrolet Bolt EUV. And the verdict is…

DALLAS – It’s a race for the best power and price to convince consumers it’s time to switch to all-electric vehicles. With the arrival of high oil prices in the summer, the industry may change.
The panoramic sunroof and crossover styling make the Bolt the best when it comes to economy. Starting at just $28,200, GM just raised the price.
“We actually just dropped the price by $6,000 to make it more competitive in the market,” said Chevrolet’s Dave Ladetto.
The model I tested costs about $43,000 and includes luxury extras like remote start, front seat ventilation, an infotainment center, a rear view camera, wireless charging, forward collision warning and even allows the car to drive on major highways. super cruise.
But not without downsides. Something is missing. There is no button control for the tailgate or power passenger seat.
One thing I was looking for was a power port inside the armrest so I don’t leave things like headphones outside when it’s time to charge. Not in this car.
If you’ve never driven an electric car before, the difference is immediately noticeable. Step on the pedal and he’s full of energy.
During my week-long road test, I drove without thinking about saving energy to see if I would experience my worst energy anxiety when switching to an all-electric vehicle with AC on and phone charging. I have not experienced this.
In fact, when driving around the city, I had to charge the Bolt two days before. However, I only used a quarter of its battery.
Bolt comes with a standard outlet that can be charged without any electrical modifications – a standard 120 volt adapter and a 240 volt adapter.
In my tests, charging at this power was possible, but very slow, especially if not set to maximum performance.
If you are making an investment, you will need to upgrade to a 240 volt plug. Luckily, Chevrolet will come and install it for you free of charge.
Once on the road, they have zero emissions, but the same environmental impact of manufacturing the batteries that power them… you may have to drive many, many, many miles and then this effect is offset by the clean energy they provide. .
I asked Chevrolet for a specific date on the carbon footprint of the battery manufacturing process. Instead, they remind me of their commitment to a green future.
